“ … has distinguished itself for its venturesome programming and stylishness of performance. The Sylvan players played all this music with interpretive styles and technical polish…”
- John Rockwell
The New York Times
“Seasoned players all… They perform with energy and discipline, at times achieving a rich organlike euphony… Throughout the night, there was much to admire in the playing of the various soloists…”
- Tim Page
The New York Times
“…their finessed playing is brimful of zest and sparkle… There are no harsh, overblown sonorities. The many expertly played, virtuosically embroidered solo passages are a joy to hear, and the ensemble blend is particularly felicitous.”
- Cape Cod Time
“…a delightful… concert… exuberant”
- New York Post

Your Support Makes a Difference
For three decades, The Sylvan Winds has succeeded in bringing the art of wind music to audiences of all ages, in both traditional venues and diverse settings. Revenue from ticket sales defrays only a small part of the ensembles’ operating expenses. But the costs of its annual concert series in New York City, as well as its other artistic and educational programs – artists’ fees, concert hall, instrument, and music rentals, to name only a few – are considerable, and increasing rapidly, especially in the current economy. This is why, more than ever, your support – either in the form of individual donations or matching funds – is crucial.
I would like to help with a contribution now!
